ILL BLISS Spits Raw: Are We Doing Enough To Inspire The Kids To Greatness As Artistic People?
Lots of people believe that talk is sometimes cheap. For Ill Bliss’ recent rant via a post he shared on his instagram page; it is rather not true if we opine that talk is cheap.
Yes, talk is not cheap. This is a testament to the thought provoking assertion by Nigeria’s famous rapper, ILL BLISS, where he shared recently reflecting on the roles and messages musicians play by influencing the younger generation.
For the records, there are hundreds of Nigerian musicians who are Ambassadors and role models to the younger generation through the arts work they put out. Their influence, brand and songs tend to play a key role in shaping the lives of youths, either positively or negatively. Their artistic works are so much appealing to the lives of the younger generation, especially the teenagers.
The reality that comes to play on this subject matter is that different people understand things differently. But for the kids, most of them are vulnerable and they find it hard to make concrete decisions at a tender age. While growing up, it is solely on their discretion to decide who to follow, which celebrity musician to idolize or take as mentor. The ones that put out songs that are appealing to them, comes in handy as their role models and ambassadors.
Let’s not underestimate the power of music because it comes with a powerful force to either Influence the lives of people positively or negatively. This is a reality we should not sweep under the carpet as creative arts people.
Highlighting the power and influence of music is relatable with what ILL BLISS tried to portray in his thoughts, by questioning his co-artistes, if they are positive role models to the kids and going thus far to ponder on how powerful the messages they pass on in their music seem to be.
In my heart, Ill Bliss has won an award as the best influential music Ambassador, having shared such motivational thought provoking message in his Instagram timeline page.
Putting things side by side, the singer has turned out to be an advocate for positive attitudinal change. Change in how the kids make meaning of music in their disposure.
We cannot turn a blind eye to the attribute given to some musicians who portray themselves as sex symbols. Of course, sexuality in music is one factor that sells in today’s music market, but if that should be a selling point for musicians, let it be done moderately because the younger generation are watching them and millions of kids see them as role models.
