In our recent celebrity hangout segment, Afro Pop Sensation, Yungtrill, shared his journey into the music industry, the hustle, grind and many things to hope for as he takes his career to another level with his soon to be released EP, ‘Local To International’

  • Tell us your real name

My name is Pwol Mathias A.k.A Yungtrill. I am from Jos, Plateau State

  • Family background

I am from a family of eight, second child in the family

  • Share a bit about how your journey into the music industry started

My musical journey started when I joined my school choir way back in my secondary school. With my passion and love for music, I ventured into music production and started learning how good sound was created.

  • How would you describe your genre of music

I am an Afro Pop Artiste. I major in producing all kinds of sounds including juju music.

  • How would you rate the Nigerian Music Industry

When it comes to Entertainment in Africa, Nigeria is topping the chart compare to other African countries. Music to me remains a serious business not for fun.

  • Music producers that are big influence to you

I love Don Jazzy a lots. I also learnt production from D-tunez, Masterkraft, Gospel On Da Beat and other producers in Ghana.

  • What influences your kind of sound and lyrics

Firstly, I would say it’s God. Aside that, my environment and life in general

  • Let us into some project you’ve done so far

I’ve done lots of songs being played on radio stations across Africa and sold on digital platforms. I’ve also won couple of awards during my University days in Ghana. Lately, I’ve been working on my second EP titled ‘Lagos To International’,  which will be released on 30th of June.

  • We’d like you to shed more light into your soon to be released EP

It’s a complete in-house project, all songs produced by me at Trillaman Studios, Lagos, Nigeria. I would gladly say it’s a master piece project.

  • With so many musicians in Nigeria what distinguishes your brand

Yungtril as a music star is a brand that is focused on making timeless songs that stands the test of time. And I do this by creating a unique sound laced with good lyrics.
